Marlon Brando initially refused to be considered for the role of Don Corleone, saying “I won’t glorify the Mafia.” Does The Godfather indeed “glorify”

I find that The Godfather does somewhat glorify the mafia. Throughout the story, the director angles the story so as to make the godfather, and the illicit deals that are undergone in this movie to make the godfather look like the good guy. However, the director does do a good job of making sure the godfather is only subtly glorified.
